New Hires, Promotions, Partners
Erin M. Heck, William Mitchell 2001 magna cum laude, 
and Daniel P. Steffen, William Mitchell 1998, have 
joined Bakke Norman S.C. as associates. Heck concentrates in real 
estate, estate planning, and trust administration in
the firm's Menomonie office. Steffen concentrates in family, criminal, 
and civil litigation in the New Richmond office. He previously was with

Patricia J. Epstein, Brooklyn 1989, has joined Bell,

Francis J. Sailer, Marquette 1978, has opened

regulation, and customs, with an emphasis on unfair trade matters 
involving antidumping and countervailing duty cases. He previously was a

Wessels & Pautsch P.C., a management-side labor 
and employment law firm founded by Richard H. Wessels, 
DePaul 1967, will be opening a new office in Indianapolis. The firm's 
other offices are in St. Charles, Ill., Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis,

Retirements
Hon. Harry Halloway, U.W. 1947, has retired after 25 
years as Milwaukee County court commissioner. He also was a trial lawyer 
for 26 years. Halloway, whose notable courtroom activities included 
dancing on the bench, singing, and playing with dogs, was known for his 
perpetual exuberance.
Authors, Speakers
Carlton D. Stansbury, Iowa 1990 with distinction, 
spoke on "Drafting and Funding College Education Provisions in 
Settlement Agreements" at the National CLE Conference in Aspen, Colo. 
Stansbury is a shareholder in the family law firm of Burbach &

John P. Runde, U.W. 1979, has achieved board
