New Hires, Promotions, Partners

Michael T. Hess, Marquette 2006, has joined Bourget Law, Eau Claire, as an associate and focuses on patent, trademark, copyright, and contract/computer law. He previously was a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Alexandria, Va.

Christopher J. Hussin, Denver 1997, has been made a partner with Lathrop & Clark LLP, Madison, and continues to focus on patent, trademark, and copyright law.

Donald W. Layden, Marquette 1982 with honors, has been named general counsel and corporate secretary for Metavante Technologies Inc., Brown Deer, which provides banking and payments technologies. He also is president of Metavante Corp. International Group.

Peter J. Manghera, U.W. 1994 cum laude, has joined the intellectual property group in the Madison office of DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. and focuses on patent law.

Jessica Philleo, Marquette 1991, has joined Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Cos., Indianapolis, as associate general counsel and director of corporate compliance. She previously was with International Medical Group Inc., Indianapolis.

Drew A. Richards, U.W. 2005, has joined the Cornelius, N.C., office of Copeland Cook & Richards PLLC as a partner and continues to focus on business torts and general civil litigation.

Dean Stange, U.W. 1993, has joined the Madison office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as a partner in the wealth planning practice group. He previously was a shareholder of Murphy Desmond S.C., Madison.

Claire Ann Resop, U.W. 1993, Eliza M. Reyes, John Marshall 1997, and Christopher J. Stroebel, Harvard 1994, have joined the Madison office of von Briesen & Roper s.c. in the banking, bankruptcy, business restructuring, and real estate practice group. Resop and Stroebel are shareholders. Reyes is an associate.

David J. Walsh, U.W. 1974, has become president and chief executive officer of Amalgamated Life Insurance Co., New York. He previously was with SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Co.

Mergers, Relocations, New Offices

Lisa Pierobon Mays, Thomas Cooley 1995, and Stephen E. Mays, Thomas Cooley 1995, have expanded Mays Law Office LLC to 6405 Century Ave., Suite 103, Middleton, and continue to concentrate in criminal and traffic law defense and worker's compensation matters.

Jason A. Rossell, U.W. 2001, has formed Rossell Law Offices LLC, 1119 60th St., Kenosha, and focuses on criminal and traffic defense, wills, and probate. He previously was with the Kenosha County District Attorney's Office.

Tara R. Devine, Marquette 2003, has been named to the Illinois Women's Chamber of Commerce board. She is with Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., Chicago, and concentrates in personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and products liability law.

Sue Ehrmann Provenzano, U.W. 1995 cum laude, has been appointed acting dean of students at Northwestern University School of Law, Chicago.

The Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association has recognized several attorneys for their aid in the administration of justice. Honored in April were the following: Steven M. Ihlenfeldt Bankruptcy Award. He is retired from Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren, Milwaukee. Nathan A. Fishbach, Villanova 1977, received the Founder's Award. He is a shareholder of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., Milwaukee. Robert Theine Pledl, John Marshall 1980, received the Judge John W. Reynolds Community Building Award. He is with Pledl Law Office, Milwaukee. The Hon. Rudolph T. Randa, U.W. 1966, received the Judge Myron L. Gordon Lifetime Achievement Award. He is chief judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

Amy Lynn Jerdee, Minnesota 2001, received the Cynthia Northrop Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Nurse Attorneys.
